*great big hugs* I'm glad the guy is finally paying for his crimes, though I personally think he's getting off light. But that's another rant for another day.
As for writing, I doubt that it has given up on you and definitely not for any perceived abuse from you, either. It's probably just sitting there, waiting for you to come back. Writing can be a patient creature (though not all the time...sometimes it's an impatient, persistent, buggery thing).
At any rate, I hope you do come back and practice more often. I miss your words. And I'm certain I'm not alone.
